September 10 - Shine Day

At NAITSA we are excited to offer fun volunteer opportunities for learning new skills and making new networking connections.

This summer and throughout September NAITSA is fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis research. We’re looking for energetic students who are approachable and don’t mind doing the occasional silly antic for donations. You may have to dance, sing, give hugs, high fives, stickers, sell suckers, wash cars, shine shoes ? basically anything you can think of to get people’s attention resulting in donations. Our official Shine Day this year will be held on Saturday September 10^th, 2011,the final weekend of Welcome Weeks.

We understand that everyone’s time commitments vary and that is why we put on different events throughout the summer. Your required time varies from event to event, perhaps as little as three hours or as many as eight hours.

Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary school fundraiser, involving more than 35,000 students from over 60 university and college campuses. Shinerama raises money and generates awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, a disease affecting the lungs and the digestive system. It is the most common, fatal, genetic disease that affects young Canadians and 1 in 3,600 babies will be born with it this year.
